Recycled glass pendants
HEDRONS is a cluster of handblown pendants in recycled clear glass. Each one is a folded, faceted volume. They were blown into a metal mould and released with their surfaces still rippling from the heat.
The story
It recycles without losing anything. Glass can be melted and reformed again and again with no loss of quality. Today’s pendant can become tomorrow’s bottle, or another pendant.
Clear is the most valuable glass to recycle. Colored glass can only become more colored glass, but clear glass can go back into almost anything. Keeping HEDRONS clear, with no colourants, coatings, or frosting, keeps it in the most useful recycling stream.
One material, easy to separate. The shade is glass and nothing else, with no glue, film, or laminated parts. The bulb and fitting unscrew, so the glass can be cleaned, reused, or recycled on its own.
The mould makes no waste. The metal mould is used again for every piece, and offcuts and failed pieces go back into the melt. It’s the studio’s zero-waste approach applied to glass.
