Outdoor coffee table and bench
Gridma is an outdoor coffee table and bench built on one idea: the grid. The table’s teak frame divides its top into woven rattan panels, and the bench is made of teak slats. Both are open, so rain runs straight through instead of pooling. The soft, rounded edges and pillar-like legs keep the system warm, practical, and easy to live with outside.
Gridma starts from two of the most practical patterns in building: the grid and the slat.
Outdoors, they solve real problems.
Drainage. Solid outdoor surfaces collect water, and standing water is what wears wood down. Gaps between slats and panels let rain drain away and air dry the surface quickly, so the furniture lasts longer and is ready to use soon after a storm.
Efficiency. A grid or slatted surface is made from smaller, shorter pieces of timber instead of wide solid boards. That uses more of each log, leaves less offcut, and makes better use of every tree.
Repair. Each slat and each panel is its own part. If one is damaged, it can be replaced without replacing the whole piece.
