Floor lamp

A floor lamp of traditional Mulberry bark paper over anodized aluminum frame. Developed around the theme of circularity.

The story

One material, nothing bonded. The frame uses a single sheet of aluminum throughout. The parts join by slot and tab, without welding, glue, or mixed-material laminates. This is the detail that matters most for circularity, because most objects fail to get recycled at the point where materials can no longer be separated.

A finish that belongs to the metal. Anodizing doesn’t add a layer of paint. It grows the aluminium’s own oxide into a hard surface. There’s no powder coat to strip and no film to burn off. When the frame is remelted, the finish goes with it.

Light to move, easy to keep. Shipped flat, the frame takes a fraction of the volume of an assembled lamp. That means less packaging and less space in transport and storage, for the maker, the gallery, and the owner who moves house.

Repair by the part, not the whole. If a rib bends or a disc cracks, only that piece needs to be recut. The cut file is the spare-parts catalogue.
