I'm Balqis Indriyani, an industrial designer and maker originally from Jakarta, Indonesia. My approach combines hands-on craftsmanship with digital innovation.
I began my design journey at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, majoring in Furniture Design & Manufacture.
I worked as a Woodworking Technical Designer in the Bay Area, designing furniture, high-end millwork, managing projects and troubleshooting technical issues.
I then returned to Indonesia to work with local manufacturers and craftsmen, reconnecting with traditional techniques and my Javanese heritage.
Now, I reside in Brooklyn, New York, after I completed my MFA in Industrial Design at Parsons School of Design and making objects that matter, with sustainability in mind.
Get in touchA little of the thinking.

Material first.
An aluminum sheet, a slot, a tab. DLGFL01A explores how a lamp can come apart as simply as it comes together.

A familiar gesture.
SHOCKING! turns an everyday warning into a small moment of delight: touch the fork and the light comes on.

A place remembered.
The rice terraces of Ubud become a ceramic and maple catchall. A landscape, translated into an everyday ritual.
